Alectra Utilities has updated the status of the power outage affecting Mississauga. The number of residents without power between Britannia Road West and Elgin Mills Parkway, extending to Winston Churchill Boulevard and Thomas Street, has decreased to 233 from 1,045. However, approximately 1,575 homes and businesses between Airport Road and Brandon Gate Drive, extending from the CN Railway to just north of Derry Road East, are now experiencing a power outage. Power restoration in this area is expected between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
As of August 31, over a thousand Mississauga residents are affected by a power outage.
Around 12:23 p.m., Alectra Utilities reported that approximately 1,045 homes and businesses were without power, affecting the area from Britannia Road West and Elgin Mills Parkway to Winston Churchill Boulevard and Thomas Street.
By 1 p.m., the company confirmed that crews were still addressing the issue, with the number of affected customers remaining at 1,045.

The cause of the outage is still unknown. Alectra Utilities estimates that power will be fully restored between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. today.
