Police are asking for the public’s assistance as they investigate a dangerous nine-kilometre drive on Monday afternoon, during which a Jaguar SUV struck 11 vehicles while traveling on three tires from Mississauga into Toronto.
Police are asking for the public’s assistance as they investigate a dangerous nine-kilometre drive on Monday afternoon, during which a Jaguar SUV struck 11 vehicles while traveling on three tires from Mississauga into Toronto.
As a result of the multiple collisions along Lake Shore Boulevard West in Toronto, three individuals, including the driver of the luxury SUV, were hospitalized with injuries, according to police.
Toronto Police report that the dangerous driving began before 3 p.m., when a white Jaguar SUV was seen driving erratically on Lakeshore Road East in Mississauga, near Hurontario Street, while missing its front right tire.
“The driver of the Jaguar SUV was driving recklessly and the vehicle was missing the front right tire,” police stated in a press release on Tuesday.
Heading east toward Toronto, the vehicle was spotted “driving on the sidewalk near Lakefront Promenade” in eastern Mississauga before crossing into Toronto and colliding with another vehicle at Lake Shore Boulevard West and Kipling Avenue.
The Jaguar SUV then fled the scene and continued east on Lake Shore Boulevard West, striking several more vehicles between Sixth Street and Fifth Street.
The SUV came to a halt after crashing at Lake Shore Boulevard West and Islington Avenue in Toronto, shortly after 3 p.m.
In total, the Jaguar struck 11 vehicles, and three individuals were hospitalized. Police have not disclosed the severity of their injuries.
The authorities have not confirmed whether charges are forthcoming.
Investigators are appealing to residents, businesses, and drivers in the area who may have security or dash camera footage of the incident to contact the police.
