Peel Region is overseeing the work at Etobicoke Valley Dog Park and its surrounding trails, which has resulted in the park’s closure for several months.
According to a bulletin from the region, “Restoration of the park is nearly complete. However, due to the significant rainfall events in July and August, the project’s completion has been further delayed.” It adds that the park is now expected to reopen between late Spring and early Summer 2025, to ensure that landscaping and grassed areas are fully restored. “Efforts will be made to open the dog park as soon as possible,” the bulletin states.
Trail closure signs are posted on-site, and alternate dog park locations are available at mississauga.ca/events-and-attractions/parks/find-a-park/.
The ongoing work involves installing a sanitary trunk sewer offline storage facility and replacing the existing sewer system. These underground pipes are crucial for transporting wastewater from homes and businesses to a water resource recovery facility.
