Three Mississauga park areas affected by last week’s floods remained closed on Monday as city crews continue working to ensure they are safe for public use before reopening.
Erindale Park and Sawmill Valley Park, located in the city’s west end, could reopen on Tuesday if deemed safe, a spokesperson for the City of Mississauga told INsauga.com via email. However, they remain closed until further notice, along with Credit Meadows (Harris Farm), which is an active construction site, according to the city.
On the other hand, both Meadowvale Conservation Area and Streetsville Memorial Park have largely reopened after being closed due to flooding caused by heavy rain from last Wednesday into Thursday, and again to a lesser extent on Saturday.
Although Meadowvale Conservation Area is open to the public, it remains closed to vehicles. Additionally, one section of Streetsville Memorial Park, specifically the trail on the west bank south of Bristol Road, is still closed.
“Several city parks remain closed due to flooding along the Credit River late last week,” Mississauga officials said in an online update on Monday, urging residents to stay informed and avoid the closed parks to ensure safety.
For more details on flooding concerns, residents are advised to call 311.
