Mississauga-Centre MPP Natalia Kusendova-Bashta has been appointed as the new Minister of Long-Term Care, advancing from her previous role as parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Long-Term Care, as well as the Minister of Seniors and Accessibility.
Mississauga-Streetsville MPP Nina Tangri will retain her position as Ontario’s Associate Minister of Small Business, within the Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade.
Both MPPs, alongside their colleagues from across Ontario, were sworn in on Wednesday afternoon during a 90-minute ceremony at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto.
Ford stated that his new team, which includes many familiar faces from his previous cabinet, “will fulfill the government’s mandate to take all necessary steps to protect Ontario against tariffs from the United States,” while also safeguarding the province’s economy.
“As Ontario faces one of the greatest challenges in our history, workers and families are counting on us to stand up for their jobs and well-being,” Ford said in a news release. “Our government will strengthen our plan to build, train, and reskill workers for better jobs and higher wages, eliminate internal trade barriers, adapt companies to new customers in new markets, attract more investments, and cut through red tape to develop our vast natural resources, including critical minerals in the Ring of Fire. We will protect Ontario, no matter what.”
Ford’s Conservatives secured their third consecutive majority government on February 27.
