Most lottery winners are eager to share their thoughts with the public after claiming their big cash prize.
However, some prefer to simply have their photo taken, as required by lottery rules, and quietly move on — and that’s completely acceptable, according to officials at Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG), who oversee the various lottery games and draws. Not every winner feels the need to make a public statement.
Orazio Dorata from Mississauga is one such winner. He recently claimed a $50,000 prize after winning on an Instant $50K Casino ticket.
The winning ticket was purchased at a Petro-Canada station on Britannia Road West in Mississauga, as confirmed by OLG officials.
While many big winners choose to comment publicly when claiming their prize, they aren’t obligated to do so. They are only required by lottery rules to either have a photo taken by OLG officials or submit one for publication.
Instant $50K Casino tickets cost $50 per play, with the top prize being $50,000. According to OLG, the odds of winning any prize are one in 3.68.
