Located at Hurontario Street and The Queensway, this state-of-the-art facility is part of Trillium Health Partners (THP), which oversees Mississauga Hospital, Credit Valley Hospital, and Queensway Health Centre.
Named The Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital after a local philanthropist who donated $105 million, the facility will span 24 storeys and 2.8 million square feet upon completion. It’s set to become Ontario’s largest hospital and one of Canada’s largest as well.
Current early works projects include constructing a new parking garage and demolishing existing structures, with full-scale hospital construction slated to begin around 2025. Throughout the construction phases, daily deliveries via large trucks are expected to range from 200 to 460.
The hospital’s features will include the Shah Family Hospital for Women and Children spanning 200,000 square feet, 23 state-of-the-art operating rooms (up from 14), and an expanded emergency department three times the current size and among the largest in Ontario. With over 950 patient beds, including many private rooms, the new hospital aims to provide increased capacity, shorter wait times, and specialized care closer to home for patients and families in Mississauga.
