A new development proposal in Mississauga for 51 and 57 Tannery St. and 208 Emby Dr. in Streetsville has been significantly expanded. Originally planned for 147 units, the revised proposal now includes 633 units across 12- to 14-storey apartment towers.
The updated plan involves two towers—one 12 storeys tall at the north end and another 14 storeys at the south—on a shared six-level podium, surrounded by landscaped open spaces. The development will include 31 studio units, 342 one-bedroom units, 187 two-bedroom units, and 73 three-bedroom units, with 602 parking spaces in a three-level underground structure and additional surface parking.
The site was previously controversial due to the proposed demolition of Tannery House at 51 Tannery St., which opponents argued had historic value. Although a demolition permit was issued in August 2019, the property does not have a heritage designation.
The development aims to offer a diverse range of apartment-style housing options and is situated about a 10-minute walk from Streetsville GO Train Station, with Mullet Creek to the southeast. The proposal is still in its early stages, and no public meeting has been scheduled yet.
