The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has arrested and charged Aleksandar Lazic, 43, of Toronto, in connection with a sex trafficking investigation. The investigation began in June 2024 after reports emerged that an adult female was allegedly trafficked by Lazic within the Halton Region.

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has arrested and charged Aleksandar Lazic, 43, of Toronto, in connection with a sex trafficking investigation. The investigation began in June 2024 after reports emerged that an adult female was allegedly trafficked by Lazic within the Halton Region.
The HRPS Human Trafficking Unit led the investigation, uncovering evidence that Lazic physically abused the victim, controlled various aspects of her life, profited from her exploitation, and created online advertisements to facilitate the trafficking.
On June 27, 2024, Lazic was charged with the following offenses:
Trafficking in Persons
Receiving Material Benefit
Procuring/Exercise Control
Advertising
Assault Causing Bodily Harm
Assault
Lazic is currently in custody awaiting a bail hearing in Milton. Authorities are concerned there may be additional victims in the Greater Toronto Area and urge anyone with information to contact Detective Scott Heyerman of the HRPS Human Trafficking Unit at 905-825-4747 ext. 4973.

Indicators of human trafficking may include:
Lack of personal control over money or communication devices
Constant supervision or restriction of movement
Isolation from family and friends
Inconsistent or rehearsed responses to questions
