Another video game store has closed in Mississauga.
The GameStop at 6045 Mavis Rd., at Heartland Town Centre, has permanently closed.
The shop is marked permanently closed on Google, it is removed from the GameStop website and posts on Reddit and Google reviews confirm the closure. Attempts to contact the shop and the GameStop company were unsuccessful.
Previously an EB Games, the store had been in the location for around 20 years and had many positive reviews on Google.
“Surprised this store is closing down for good on February 1st, 2025,” one person wrote in a Google review. “I usually traded my old consoles and games at this store, never had issues with the staff. This store has been around Heartland for 20 years or so, good luck.”
“Sigh…wishing the employees well,” one person wrote on Reddit. “I’ve always had good customer service at the heartland location.”
Customers said there was little warning and no closing sale. The stock was moved to other GameStop locations.
Two other GameStops have closed in Mississauga. The GameStop (previously EB Games) at South Common Centre, 2150 Burnhamthorpe Rd. W. closed in February 2024, and the Erin Mills Town Centre location closed on Dec. 10, 2023.
In late 2023, the Texas-based company reported declining revenues as more people buy video games online. In 2024, amid reports of falling revenues, GameStop said it planned to wind down operations in Germany. In 2023, GameStop ended its operations in Ireland, Switzerland and Austria.
The Heartland closure leaves one GameStop in the city at Square One Shopping Centre. There are also nearby shops in Brampton and Etobicoke.
