Heather Kirby to Officially Begin Role on February 3
Food4Kids Ontario is set to welcome its new executive director next month. Heather Kirby will join the organization in February, bringing over a decade of experience in community service and food insecurity advocacy.
In her previous role as executive director of Kawartha Lakes Food Source, Kirby led the organization’s fundraising strategy, collaborated with member food banks to increase distribution capacity by more than 50%, and developed innovative programs to educate and support both urban and rural communities. In recognition of these efforts, Food Banks Canada honored the organization with an Excellence in Food Banking Award in 2023.
“I’m passionate about finding collaborative solutions to food insecurity,” says Kirby. “I’m excited to work with our Food4Kids chapters, funders, and community members to help ensure students can focus on just being kids.”
As the new executive director, Kirby will lead advocacy efforts, fund development, and strategic planning to strengthen the organization and support its local chapters. Ryan Strang, Chair of the Food4Kids Ontario Board of Directors, expressed enthusiasm for her appointment: “We’re thrilled to welcome Heather to Food4Kids Ontario. She truly believes in the power of collaboration—an essential mindset as we work to support the many children across Ontario facing food insecurity.”
Kirby will officially assume her role on February 3.
